FAQ
A positively amazing one! While proven in tests to last up to five years, we recommend using our bubble and theatrical special effects fluids within two to three years of purchase for best results.
You can extend your Atomic products’ shelf life by storing them away from direct sunlight in a climate-controlled environment. They’ll last longer if kept between 35° and 110° F.
In other words: don’t freeze them or leave them out in the sun on a hot day.
Great question. Short answer: no. It takes special technology found only in snow-producing machines to create the realistic, Frosty-fooling snow effects produced by our Sno-Drift fluids. Save your bubble machines for our incredible bubbles.
Our UV-reactive products do not, technically, "glow in the dark.” For them to reach their greatest glow-potential, you’ll need special lighting.
If you want to get all technical about it, an ultraviolet (UV) blacklight with a 365nm wavelength output is best for our UV-reactive bubbles.
If you don’t want to get all technical, a 2-foot or 4-foot fluorescent tube will do just fine. Honestly, any LED UV light fixture or tube will produce a “glow in the dark” effect. The closer your light’s output is to the 365nm light spectrum, the better. (Read the label to find out.)
Glad you asked! Strictly speaking, a black light IS a kind of UV light. It just has a shorter wavelength than violet light, which has the shortest wavelength in the visible part of the electromagnetic spectrum.
Remember learning that in science class?
In case you’re curious: Most LED UV lighting is in the 400nm wavelength range, which produces light that is more purple than ultraviolet. Our products glow under this light, but not quite as vividly as they do with true ultraviolet light. Then again, we’re picky! You probably won’t even notice the difference.
Absolutely. All Atomic bubble and snow products have undergone thorough testing, which found them safe and non-toxic to humans, animals and plants. We’re happy to share our safety data sheets upon request.
With that said, please use common sense. Young children, for example, need adult supervision when using our products – particularly when a bubble or snow machine is involved. When you use our products as intended, the only thing you should worry about is having TOO MUCH FUN.
Some surfaces can indeed get slippery after prolonged use of any bubble or snow product. Rough concrete and other hard or porous surfaces provide the best outdoor settings. Grass is also suitable and a better choice than sealed asphalt, which can become slick when covered with bubbles, snow or foam.
Indoors, carpet is typically the safest surface. Tile and hardwood floors tend to get slippery. That’s why many schools cover their gym floors with tarps or other protective coverings when using bubble and snow products. When the general public is involved, it’s better to be safe than sorry!
Here’s what you need to know about staining risks.
Tekno Bubbles® – These fluids aren’t visible in normal light, but glow under black light. Any splatter will be visible under a black light until it’s cleaned. For bare skin, solid surfaces and clothing, all it takes is a little soap or detergent. Tekno Bubbles® can be vacuumed out of carpets.
The fact is, millions of people have experienced our Tekno Bubbles® at Busch Gardens-Tampa, Kennywood in Pennsylvania, Chicago’s Navy Pier and other large venues over the past two decades without complaint. People who pass through Tekno Bubbles® or let the bubbles settle and pop on them encounter only a small amount of bubble solution.
To stain clothing, Tekno Bubbles® must typically saturate the fabric. If that should happen, treat the clothing with a color-safe stain remover before washing and any spots should wash out. If you don’t apply stain remover, any glow seen under a blacklight should fade away after several washings.
Bottom line: any fabric that can withstand water should do fine with Tekno Bubbles®. That means avoiding silks and other fabrics that shouldn’t get wet.
Here’s a fun scientific fact: Our UV bubbles aren’t the ONLY things that glow under UV lights. Tonic water, some laundry detergents – even lint can glow in these conditions.
Protonic Paint Splatter Bubbles – These colorful bubbles, which are visible under both normal light and UV blacklight, are recommended for OUTDOOR USE ONLY. Adult supervision is also recommended.
That’s because these bubbles pose a staining risk to certain types of clothing, as well as rough, porous surfaces and materials. Smooth, non-porous materials and surfaces will absorb less paint, making them easier to clean. If these bubbles are used indoors, Atomic Bubbles CANNOT BE HELD LIABLE for any stains they produce.
Skin and hair fair much better, requiring only normal soap or shampoo to wash clean. Some skin types absorb more paint than others, however. If a slight residue remains after you wash, just remember the old saying: If at first you don’t succeed, wash, wash again. We haven’t turned anyone into Shrek. At least, not yet!
